I didn't even notice how long this thread has been inactive while trying to find it again. To be honest, this forum is the only place where I still communicate in german, and I think my language skills have been on a decline due to mainly using english in my daily life. AJ hmm

RE: the english Laberthread (the fine british way!) - Basinator - 05.05.2021, 23:33

My roomie flat mate doesn't even speak German.

RE: the english Laberthread (the fine british way!) - LittleMissDevil - 06.05.2021, 08:15

@Ayu: can relate. I don't use english on the daily, but still quite often. Not to mention that the media I consume is almost 100% in english (german Youtube? Hell no). I do find english words slipping into my german very often - or at least I struggle for a moment to find the german word.

RE: the english Laberthread (the fine british way!) - Basinator - 06.05.2021, 20:03

"You are pretty brutal towards insects, aren't you...?"

"I kill them, yes."

"Sounds that way."

So, the https://www.impfportal-niedersachsen.de website is just in German only, and not only that, weirdly you cannot even copy the text into translators either, so I am the lucky bastard who will need to help her to register, likely.

Ah yes, english. So much better than german. And so much easier. Sometimes I wish that english was my mother laguage. But I still love german! Pinkie happy

RE: the english Laberthread (the fine british way!) - Crash Override - 06.05.2021, 21:03

*cough* It's called "native language"... just saying. That doesn't sound like "translated years ago via google". But yeah, you're right - it's easier than german when you want to learn another language.

Alt: Mother tongue. Is legit.

https://www.dict.cc/deutsch-englisch/Muttersprache.html

German firetrucks me up whenever I am just changing a pronoun or inserting another word and I am forced to rewrite the whole sentence. Great...

Oh ok, I'll keep that in mind! FS grins My english may be really good, but not perfect. FS sad

RE: the english Laberthread (the fine british way!) - Crash Override - 06.05.2021, 21:17

Yeah, that's even correct... but your 2.nd sentence doesn't make sense for me. What did the german firetrucks to you? Sceptic

@dominic: well, i trained my english from time to time in a chat where's normal to speak english. In that point i can even try to going better with the grammar.

RE: the english Laberthread (the fine british way!) - Basinator - 06.05.2021, 21:19

Firetrucking. That's the English word every conservative freaks out that starts with f and ends with ucking, isn't it?

RE: the english Laberthread (the fine british way!) - Crash Override - 06.05.2021, 21:22

ah, now i get that. To be fair, i had sometimes the same problem with english sentences.

RE: the english Laberthread (the fine british way!) - Basinator - 06.05.2021, 21:29

At first, I thought you meant firetrucking around.

RE: the english Laberthread (the fine british way!) - Crash Override - 06.05.2021, 22:32

Hell, no - i meant the grammar in the sentences, not that other thing....
