Zitat:Okay, I must admit when Granny Smith started telling her story, my jaw almost dropped to the floor. Strangely enough, I thought that her appearing at school even though the CMC sent her far away was very predictable, but I didn't actually think it through enough to see that she was probably going to take Apple Bloom and the others off-guard by telling an amazing story.
So when Granny Smith did start telling her story, I was greatly astonished. When she took out the map and saidZitat:Long ago, when I was a little pony, things were very different here in Ponyville, 'cause there was no Ponyville!I was immediately captivated by her story.
Especially the way she said "there was no Ponyville" took me completely off-guard. I watched the whole story with my mouth literally open and when she finished, I almost started crying because the story had touched me so deeply. And mind you, I'm not one to cry often.
At the beginning I didn't have great expectations for this episode. I just thought it was going to be a nice episode. But still, in the back of my mind, I knew that MLP: FiM always manages to take the most boring concepts and turn them into pure awesomeness. So I watched it, not really expecting that much, I actually thought it was going to be one of the more boring episodes.
But boy, was I wrong! It got better and better, even though it was just becoming funnier and not strictly awesome. But then when Granny started telling her story my mind was blown.
Granny Smith has become one of my favorite characters now, and I didn't really think much of her before that episode, I just saw her as a senile old mare played for laughs.
It was kind of nice seeing Princess Celestia next to young Granny Smith, looking of course as young as ever; no surprise, considering she's probably immortal or just ages very slowly.
The Timber wolves were also kind of scary when you look at it, but also funny at the same time, considering they're actually made of timber.
The CMC were as cute as ever and it was nice seeing them doing something other than looking for their cutie marks.
It was also nice seeing that her eccentric behavior was justified to some extent (The Cloudcuckoolander was right!). At first I thought that Granny Smith was rivaling even Pinkie Pie in sheer Cloudcuckoolanderness, but then when she told her story everything made sense, even painting the polka dots (lol).
It was also nice seeing Diamond Tiara's father, Filthy Rich. I had already read a fanfic where her father appeared (Past Sins) but I was curious how he would be presented to us in canon. He doesn't seems to be nearly as obnoxious as his daughter.
Diamond Tiara is of course as bratty as ever but although I really hated her before (especially in Past Sins for bullying Nyx) I'm starting to feel sorry for her, at least kind of. She's practically a prisoner of her own selfishness. She was just spoiled rotten by her filthy rich (hehe) father. However, that still doesn't excuse her actions.
I also found the Zap Apples to be a nice addition to the story. But what I liked most is that we found more about how Ponyville was founded and its history. Twilight said in Winter Wrap Up that Ponyville was founded by earth ponies but I would never have imagined that Granny Smith and the Apple family had anything to do with it. The map was also nice (yeah, yeah, I know I'm just like Fluttershy in this aspect, everything's just "nice" )
But really, this was one amazing episode. Just when I thought my enthusiasm for ponies was declining they came up with this brilliant episode. 10/10, I don't remember any other episode in the entire series that managed to have such a great effect on me.

Ist "What are you? A dictionary?" nun Scootaloos Catchphrase?

...
...eine offensichtlich schwachsinnige Begründung.
