People in englisch speaking countries don't use the word "cream" to describe any type of lotion or skin care, so it wouldn't really make sense for them to do it here. Shrug

If it was for that, I don't think they would use the terms day cream, night cream, anti-ageing cream, bb cream, and so on which they do. Derpy confused

I guess, it's meant to be a universal term for all kinds of products, that protect you from the sun. After all, there is more available than 'just' cream. You can also get oil, spray, lotion, gel, foam...

This also gets reflected in some English-German dictionaries. There, you will find "Sonnenschutz" or even "Sonnenschutzmittel" as the most appropriate translation. Makes sense. After all, there is no way of telling, if someone talking about "sunscreen" refers to a cream or something else. Thus, translating it as "Sonnencreme" would be too specific. The broader term "Sonnenschutz" leaves more room for variation.

Also, according to the Oxford Dictionary, the term "sun cream" actually does exist in English. It is just uncommon to use it.

Hearing the term I would rather associate it with the protective covers for your car windows rather than the lotion. Since my last post, I started some research on that subject, and apparently it's called sunscreen because they categorize those protective lotions by two types; sunscreen absorbs UV rays whereas sunblock prevents them from entering, sun cream and lotion could refer to either. AJ hmm

Before i spoke english in 2017 for the first time, i always thought i could never learn this language. i always thought i would be to dumb for that, but in 2016 i had finally the motivation to learn english. i watched mlp fim in english and i also, watched a lot of english youtube videos in 2016 during that time. it took me a while to understand the english words and sentences, but after a while i was finally able to understand this language. and one year later in 2017 i was finally ready, to speak english for the first time and it was great. i made youtube videos back in that time, because i thought this could be the best way, to find out how good my english really is and it was very good. i am still so glad that i had the motivation, to learn this great language and i am also so glad that i taught it myself. Twilight happy

... even in english did you fail with the punctuation. Seems hopeless; but, i can say, that even a lot of americans can't even write english good enough - and no, i don't even try to look at other things like grammar or writing mistakes from your text. The only thing what i can say is: that you wrote "too german"... And that isn't a bad thing.

Another evening, another day done. Eeyup There are a lot of tests coming up for me in the next few weeks, but it's ok, it's getting close to the exams. And the good thing is, I don't have to go to school on friday! Cheerilee awesome Only learning at home, which I always prefer because I learn better at home than in school. And the weekend will be nice, because on friday, the UCS AT-AT is finally launching! Cheerilee awesome It's brutally expensive, but I can't help myself, I waited for this a long time! Pinkie happy So, enjoy your evening, guys! Twilight smile

RE: the english Laberthread (the fine british way!)
Today I was trying to find an old background graphic I made for one of my websites ages ago with the help of archive.org. Surprisingly, while digging around the archives, I found even more websites I made that I couldn't even remember anymore to have made including my old guild forum. Seeing the names of old friends that I'm no longer in contact with made me feel quite nostalgic for those simpler times of the internet.

Sites might vanish, but the memories and friends we made along the way will stay in our hearts forever.

Also I'm glad my english improved over the years, reading those posts of almost 20 years ago made me cringe.

Nowadays, i personally think english is the best language in the world. It's also my favorite language, and i find it so much better and cooler than german. I used to love the german language, but since last year i don't like it anymore and in my opinion it's just boring. Am i the only one here who has this opinion? or do you guys still love german more than english?

Well, with english you have a lot more people who understand the language so it's a lot more fun over the sheer amount of people you can interact with, and there are a lot less rules in regards to grammar.

That's true, because many people can understand this language easily and it really is fun to interact with others online. You're also right about the fact, that in the english language there are a lot less rules in regards to grammar. But sometimes i still think my english grammar sucks. RD laugh Even though i take my time with writing in this language, like with this post here right now.

Now that i think about it again, i still have to catch up with a lot of anime and american cartoon tv shows and movies. Because nowadays i only watch everything in english. The last anime i watched in english was Fairy Tail which i absolutely love, but the thing is there are days where i'm not in the mood to watch anything. I also have to catch up with this anime because i'm still at the Oracion Seis arc. That's why i do other things then, like writing or reading fanfictions drawing anime or cartoon characters, looking at fanart on Deviantart or listening to music on spotify. I hope i will have the motivation again, to continue with the shows that i started to watch in english a while ago. It's been even a long time now since i watched One Piece, which i also still love but right now i'm not even in the mood to watch that many episodes. There is also many disney and DreamWorks stuff that i still want to watch. Do you guys also know this feeling sometimes to be not in the mood to watch anything? And also do other things instead of watching something?

English has proven to be very useful for me again this weekend: I was at the meetup "North Brony Reunion" of the Czech bronies in Ústí nad Labem once again. Being the only German there, it can be difficult to understand something, my Czech language skills are still very far away from what I would like them to be - luckily, we all can speak and understand English, so I could use that instead Pinkie approved

@Railway Dash

That's awesome, it sounds like you all had a amazing weekend at this Meetup. Twilight happy Your english must be very good then, if you are able to communicate with people from this country. I always imagined how my english would be, if i had the opportunity to talk with people from other countries in this language. I personally think it would be difficult at first to speak english with them, because it's the first time doing this and i would be very nervous. But then after a while, i probably would be more relaxed and be able to communicate with them properly. But that's just how i think how it would be, if i would talk with someone in english for the first time.
