To the Cloudscapes of Celephais
“In a dream it was also that he came by his name of Kuranes, for when awake he was called by another name.” - H.P. Lovecraft, Celephaïs, 1922
Celephaïs! So high in light!
Your golden rooftops gleaming
In the sun, like dreamspheres bright,
And in the amber heavens beaming.
A shining diamond in the night,
When finally I'll reach you, dreaming.
You are the goal of all my hopes,
Between blue shores and Aran's slopes.
Celephaïs! With ivory halls,
Lapped by Cerenian foam!
Your temple shows the proudest walls
And a majestic, turquoise dome.
Where grand the Street of Pillars calls,
I'll sing the rhapsody of home!
Beneath the moon, with starry gaze,
I'm flying east, through silvery haze!
Celephaïs! Your woods so green,
The trees of jade are flowing
In the wind and the unseen
Aura, of the aether glowing.
Meadows breeze in squalls so keen,
That are from snowy mountains blowing.
Unmovable, the time stands still,
On azure sea and emerald hill.
Celephaïs! Your noble knights!
Emblazoned their ornates!
They guide me to the tower's sites,
Which are long lost and drowned in shades.
Their horses drift from greatest heights
And float to unknown, raptured glades.
With joyful hymns, the brink is near
And I strive onward, without fear.
Celephaïs! On stellar coasts,
Your wild horizons weaving,
Where cosmic ships and astral hosts
Are for the cloudy kingdom leaving.
Fairy-lights drift meek like ghosts,
So that the blind may start believing!
I see you there in splendid might,
A sight for which I've gladly died!
And so Kuranes becomes king
Of Celephaïs, on godly wing!
He reached the void of Azathoth,
Came back and rules with purple cloth!
He is the dreamer's mighty lord
And Nath-Horthath his royal court.
Hail the king and Celephaïs,
Where dreamers soar and visions rise!
Hail the dragonfire skies
And to reality's demise!
Hail raindrop dreams and clouded eyes!
Tranquility a dreamquest's prize.
So come, my friend, let us ascend!
And this last line
Is now
The End.
